Description
The Army Medical Department is a branch of the United States Army responsible for providing medical care, health services, and medical readiness support to soldiers. Established in 1775 during the Continental Army era, it has evolved into a comprehensive medical system that supports Army operations in both peacetime and combat. Its purpose is to preserve the fighting strength of the force by preventing, treating, and managing illness and injury, as well as ensuring soldiers are medically fit for deployment.
