Description
The Circassian Tribes The Circassian Confederation represented the united tribes of the northwestern Caucasus, bound together by shared traditions, kinship, and a common defense of their ancestral lands. Rather than a centralized state, Circassia was composed of numerous independent tribes and noble houses, each maintaining its own leaders while cooperating through councils and alliances. By 1808, the Circassians stood as a proud warrior society renowned for their horsemanship, discipline, and mastery of mountain warfare. Controlling the rugged lands between the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains, they defended their independence against foreign ambitions while maintaining strong ties with neighboring powers, including the Ottoman Empire.
