Troop B of the Mayflower State Police was established in 1902 to provide law enforcement coverage to the rapidly industrializing County of Elizabeth. Headquartered in Little Horsted, Troop B was originally formed to combat rising organized crime, labor unrest, and smuggling along Lake Anderton. Troop B quickly gained a reputation for aggressive patrols and strict discipline, reflecting the broader culture of the Mayflower State Police. Troopers were frequently deployed during labor strikes in Ruby Creek and Hopewell, often clashing with local agitators and union organizers throughout the early 20th century. Today, Troop B remains one of the most active and urban-facing troops in the state, responsible for highway patrol, criminal investigations, and tactical support across Elizabeth County and its townships.
