Description
Cyprus in the late 1000s BCE was undoubtedly inhabited by the Greeks, however it was very much separate from mainstream Mycenaean Civilization. Unlike mainland Greece, Alashiya is wholly disconnected from Greek political struggle. The Kingdom instead fell under the suzerainty of the sprawling Hittite Empire, however Hittite hold on the island was incredibly weak and the island essentially functioned as an independent state in many of its aspects. It is this weak hold that has attracted the keen eyes of the Hittite's great rival, the Egyptian Kingdom to covet dominance of the Alashiyans for themselves. Alashiya stands at a crossroads in its history, either to make its bid for total independence, or submit to one of the regional superpowers crashing down on one another.
