Description
𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐍 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐑𝐘 𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐘 𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐏 南方軍 Formed in 1941 to coordinate Japanese operations in Southeast Asia and the South Pacific, the Southern Expeditionary Army Group directed large-scale invasions of the Philippines, the Dutch East Indies, British Malaya, and other territories. It aimed to secure vital resources and strategic positions, supporting Japan’s broader goal of regional dominance. Its authority declined as Allied counteroffensives progressed from 1943 onward.
